Mount Washington is 7,795 feet (2,376 meters) high and was named after the first President of the United States, George Washington.
Mount Washington is a shield volcano. On a clear day, you can see Mount Washington as you drive along Oregon Highway 20 between Bend and Salem.
You must obtain a wilderness permit to enter the protected Mount Washington Wilderness. Trailheads are located at Big Lake, south of HooDoo ski resort.
